About this policy
This Privacy Policy explains how the operator of How to Save the World handles personal information when you visit howtosavetheworld.co.nz or email us. The site publishes educational content about sustainability and ESG in digital iGaming; it does not provide gambling services.

This notice describes the site and code currently in use and will be updated if our data practices change. Nothing in it removes rights or remedies that the law gives you.

Information we collect
- Contact or updates forms: The browser prepares an email addressed to the site. The site does not automatically send form data to its web server. If you choose to send the email, we may receive your address and any name, phone number, subject, or message you include. Required fields are identified on the form. Do not send passwords, payment details, gambling account credentials, or sensitive information unless necessary and authorised.
- Technical and security data: When a page is requested, the website and its hosting provider may process the IP address, date and time, requested page and query string, referring page, browser and device details, and error or security information. This is used to deliver the site, diagnose problems, and protect it from misuse.
Information received indirectly
If we collect personal information about you from another person or organisation rather than directly from you, we will take reasonable steps to notify you of the collection and the matters required by law. Information Privacy Principle 3A applies to personal information collected indirectly from 1 May 2026, subject to the exceptions in the Privacy Act 2020. Where required, this includes explaining what was collected, its source and purpose, intended recipients, how to contact the collecting or holding agency, and your access and correction rights.
Why we use information
We use information as reasonably needed to deliver and secure the site, respond to messages, troubleshoot errors, prevent spam or abuse, keep appropriate business records, meet legal obligations, and establish or defend legal claims. The site does not use visitor data for unrelated marketing.
Who may receive information
Information may be available to people who administer the site and to service providers supporting website hosting, security, and email. If you choose to send a message prepared by a contact form, your email provider and the recipient mail system process it. We may also disclose information where required or authorised by law, to address fraud or security threats, or as part of a genuine transfer of the website or its business subject to appropriate safeguards.
We do not sell personal information for money or provide it to advertising brokers for their independent marketing. External links and embedded services are operated by others; once your browser connects to them, their own privacy terms apply.
Processing outside New Zealand
Website hosting, security, or email providers may process information outside New Zealand. Where we disclose personal information to an overseas recipient, we will take the steps required by Information Privacy Principle 12 of the Privacy Act 2020, such as ensuring comparable privacy safeguards or relying on another basis permitted by law.
Cookies and external links
The site currently uses no analytics scripts, tracking pixels, advertising cookies, or browser storage for visitor tracking. Hosting providers may still keep the technical request logs described above. Contact forms open your email application and do not send information to the website server automatically. External links lead to services with their own privacy practices.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as it is reasonably needed for the purpose for which it was collected, including responding to an enquiry, maintaining security, meeting legal requirements, or dealing with a dispute. Retention depends on the type and sensitivity of the information and the circumstances. We then securely delete it or de-identify it where practicable. Hosting, email, or backup providers may retain residual copies for their ordinary deletion cycle.
Security and privacy breaches
We use safeguards that are reasonable in the circumstances to protect information against loss, unauthorised access, use, modification, or disclosure. No website or internet transmission can be guaranteed completely secure. If a privacy breach is notifiable under New Zealand law, we will notify the Privacy Commissioner and affected people as required.
Your access and correction rights
You may ask whether we hold personal information about you, request access to it, and ask us to correct information that is wrong. Email fieldnotes@howtosavetheworld.co.nz with “Privacy request” in the subject line and enough detail to help us locate the information. We may ask for reasonable proof of identity before releasing personal information. We will respond within the time required by law, generally within 20 working days, subject to any lawful extension or withholding ground.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner .
Information about children
This site is not intended for children and does not knowingly request personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent personal information to us, contact the Privacy Officer so we can assess and respond to the request.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the site, its providers, or applicable law changes. The effective date at the top of this page shows when the current version took effect. If a material change affects how information is collected or used, we will take reasonable steps to make the updated notice easy to find.
